How Do I sell My Timeshare?

Are you perhaps looking at selling your timeshare but are concerned that you may get riped off? A timeshare owner looking for a quick sale is an ideal target. What things should you look for?

Have you advertised it yourself? Have noticed that you seem to get a lot of unsolicited calls just after you advertised your timeshare for sale? Many sharks watch the for sale ads and then approach the owners direct. They will start by saying they have a buyer already lined up to buy your weeks.Their usual method is to try and allay owners fears.

Often people will claim to be bone fide estate agents or licensed resellers. They may claim to be members of a trade organisation or maybe something like the Guild of Master Craftsmen. Neither of these are really a guarrantee of someone being totally legitimate.

Another scam is to let you “talk to their solicitors” who will explain that it is above board. The trouble is that you have no real idea who they are (they often give a mobile number out. Whoever heard of a lawyer doing business from his office with a mobile phone?). More often than not, the “lawyer” turns out to be someone else in their office (another salesman!).

So the takeaway today is do not part with any money up front. More on this next time
